This is the best quality Stevia on the market if you want it from the true source, ingredients are clean, and not altered or refined. It doesn't taste the best, as the refined Stevia, but you will slowly get used to the taste. This is for people that have trouble with their spike in blood sugars, or want the best clean ingredients for their daily consumption.
While refined stevia products abound, this is the real deal. As with other stevia products, a little goes a long way. I am a fan of using stevia to sweeten beverages like caffeine free herbal tea and lemonade. I am pleased with both the quality and taste of this product. I usually buy two at a time so it will last longer because I use it a lot, on the daily.
I waited for months to re order the whole leaf stevia extract I Herb used to sell. but they discontinued it. For Lymes sufferers, the whole leaf version is the only one that seriously helps to end the life cycle of the lymes spirochete. since I have healed from that, I still use stevia to sweeten certain things and this product is excellent value. It goes a very long way and is a fine quality stevia. Best for use in things with a rich flavor like chocolate which masks the aftertaste of stevia.
When I open the bag of the Organic Traditions, Stevia Leaf Powder, I was surprised with the color, green. I didn't expect it. It looked like Macha, Green Tea Powder, and smelled like that too. The taste is OK but stronger flavor than typical stevia, which is white. I found this Stevia Leaf Powder is difficult to use for cooking.
I purchased this to Stevia Leaf add to a homemade electrolyte powder but I didn't care for the strong taste as it was too "earthy" for me. I gave it to our daughter who loves it because she enjoys that flavor. She mixes it in coffee, tea, and smoothies. I will say that the quality is very good and the powder will go a long ways since you only need a little bit to add flavor.
I used refined stevia before and wanted to try the more natural version. It tastes and smells very grassy, which is to be expected, but i don't like it, it reminded me of wheat grass shots. I don't think i'll order it again, unless maybe i'll get used to it, it's a big size package and a little goes a long way, so this will last me for a while. I only tried it in tea in coffee so far, it might work better in cooking, where other ingredients could mask the grass taste, i'm yet to try any recipes. All in all it's a good quality product for people watching their diet and health
I got this mainly for baking, as I follow a low-carb eating plan. I made blueberry muffins today (w/ almond flour & flax meal), and put in about 1 TB each of allulose powder and this natural Stevia powder, and it sweetened the batch perfectly! No "off" metallic or alcohol-like taste. This product is the dried Stevia leaves ground into a powder. They are green, so it might discolor some food items, but the flavor is good in baked items. I tried sweetening my plain yogurt with it, but didn't care for it that way as much. I mainly like using a powdered sweetener (that doesn't spike my glucose) in baking cheesecakes, as granular sweeteners leave it with a granular texture. Anyway, happy to have an all-natural, unprocessed sweetener that's actually good for me! (Stevia is anti-inflammatory) The bag is kinda small, but a little goes a very long way, so should last months.
I like this product because it tastes sweet and has no other ingredients except stevia. And I plan to buy it again. Other stevia sweeteners give me migraines due to the sugar alcohols, but not this one. The serving I use is about 1/4 tsp (heaping) per 12 ounce beverage. One down side is that the mouthfeel is a bit chalky because it's a powder that suspends in the liquid, whereas sugar breaks down more into a solution. It's packaged in a study plastic bag that can be torn open and has a press and seal closure.
